The LA 28 daysailer and the LA 850 dinghy cruiser are the first boats from the new LA Yacht- und Bootsbau shipyard in Waren an der Müritz. Entrepreneur Lothar Fichtner and master boat builder Andreas Zehle, former boat builder at the Christen 20 dinghy cruiser builder in Waren, and designer Martin Menzner from Berckemeyer Yacht Design in Laboe are the founding team. The company name LA is derived from the initials of Lothar and Andreas.
The shipyard's first completely new launch is the LA 28, a fixed keel yacht that can also be designed as a lifting keel. The background to the launch was Lothar Fichtner's desire for a suitable daysailer for his winter sailing area, the Balearic island of Mallorca. "I wanted a boat that wouldn't get lost in the shuffle," says Fichtner. Designer Menzner drew a boat that is strongly reminiscent of the curry dinghy "Aero" and is also inspired by it. "But also by the round hulls of the America's Cup catamarans with their wave piercer bows," says Menzner. "I wanted something that was easy on the hands and eyes."
The most striking feature of the LA 28 is the rounded transition between the hull and deck shells. In fact, the two are not separate, but the boat is built in half shells, with the keel as the cutting edge. There is therefore a left and a right shell instead of one for the hull and one for the deck.
The LA 28 has a fixed keel, but can also be equipped with a lifting keel. Prices for the moulded boat start at 89,500 euros.
Also on display in Friedrichshafen is the LA 850, which is based on a 20-metre dinghy cruiser whose shape has been extended from 7.75 to 8.50 metres. It has also been fitted with a 120-kilogram ballast centreboard and carbon fibre textile rigging. "We are thus offering a dinghy cruiser for owners who want to operate the boat completely single-handed and also want increased safety thanks to a ballast centreboard," says Fichtner. Prices for this piece of jewellery, which is also moulded and glued, start at 89,500 euros.
The beautiful wooden boats can be found inHall A1 Stand 411.
